Citrus Summer Vibes

Happy summer friends! It’s my first summer as a dad and I have to say, I’m loving it! Being a dad has changed so much of my life. Some of it isn’t that fun, like lack of sleep, lack of freedom, etc. We definitely don’t spend as many days in bed binging Netflix shows as we used to. But most of the changes have been for the better. Honestly, babies are amazing. My little nugget puts a smile on my face from the minute I walk through the door from work. And yes, she’s made me scream a time or two (go to sleep already!), but ultimately it’s all completely worth it.

Something that changes when you have kids is the amount of time you have for yourself. With kids, and babies especially, time seems to fly by. I get home from work, eat dinner, have some family time and all of a sudden it’s 10PM. So focusing on things like what outfit you’re going to wear become quick, well-timed acts while they nap or are preoccupied with their hand. Where I might have spent a good hour planning out an outfit before, now I throw on things and hope it works out.

It’s actually changed my perspective a bit. Now I don’t get to overthink my outfits. I try not to waste time questioning and overthinking what I’m wearing. Instead I spend some time getting pieces that are versatile and that don’t require too much work.

This shirt is an easy piece to wear. For one, it puts a smile on your face because it’s covered in oranges (perfect for summer, right?). But, the best part, is that it becomes the center of any outfit. So it’s easy to throw on with a great pair of jeans (we’ll get to the ones I am wearing here in a second) and enjoy the day. I don’t want to spend a lot of wasted time getting dressed anymore. I’d rather spend that time making my daughter smile. Or sleeping—sleeping is nice too. I wore the shirt open over a white tee for a casual, laidback vibe.

I rave about Banana Republic jeans all the time. If you go to my IG stories, I pretty much live in a few pairs of jeans and most of them are Banana Republic. These light wash skinny jeans are awesome. The light wash is perfect for summer and the fit is flattering. The jeans are skinny but not painted on which can sometimes be hard to find. I never used to think I had thick (I like to think muscular) legs A few ankle cuffs/rolls and you’ve got the perfect jeans for almost any casual summer look.

The best part of this outfit is that my daughter got to get in a few photos with me. Her little lemon leggings coordinated perfectly with my orange printed shirt. Citrus inspired looks for the win! I mean the outfit I wore is great (thanks Banana Republic!), but the best accessory is this little citrus cutie I got to have with me.

Rule of thumb, from a too-busy dad, don’t overthink your outfits. Go with your gut because usually you end up walking out of the house in the first thing you tried on. Have a great day guys! DM me if you have any questions or comments or just want to say hey!
