So Cal Spring

Spring is back! And I’m beyond happy. My wife and I had one thing left on our pre-baby bucket list and it was pretty simple. To just spend some time down at the beach. So this past weekend it warmed up a bit and we spent Saturday hanging out on the sand. We picked up lunch and lounged in the sun–it was so nice.  I almost feel bad sharing photos of me in shorts since it’s still very much winter in most places. But hey, that’s California for you! Shorts are sort of year round items here.

I’m so excited I stumbled across Original Paperbacks on Instagram–they make the shorts and sweatshirts (and also these amazing sweatpants I posted about a while back) I’m wearing here. First off, they’re local to Southern California which I love. Also, they design and hand-dye all of their garments in Los Angeles. They have such a local feel and they even name a lot of their pieces after Southern California landmarks or cities. On their Instagram, they post tons of behind the scenes content that shows you their process and how it all works. I don’t know about you guys, but that just leaves me with a good feeling. I love knowing where and how my stuff comes from–just makes me feel good about wearing it and telling people about it.

The drawstring shorts are amazing. I really found last summer that drawstring shorts were not only completely on trend, but also so practical and easy to throw on. They give a great laid back vibe and I’d definitely include drawstring shorts on my summer must-have list. These shorts are named after San Diego and it’s the perfect moniker for these worn-in, comfy summer bottoms. And the sweatshirt is just awesome, plain and simple. Just the right amount of boxy and oversized (I did a medium) for a slouchy disheveled look that’s super stylish right now. If you’re looking to add some spring and summer staples direct from Cali to your wardrobe, definitely check these guys out!
