Ingredients (Makes 1 cocktail)

1.5oz vodka (I personally love Tito’s)

1.5oz mulled apple cider

3oz ginger beer

Nutmeg

Apple slice + cinnamon stick

Recipe

Okay so this cocktail is super easy to make. Like it will only take you a few seconds. I was putting this recipe together and was thinking it through and my wife recommended I mull my apple cider with mulling spices. At first I didn’t want to put in the extra effort, but I’m so glad I did. The added spice cuts the sweetness of the cider which is great because I’m not big on super sweet cocktails. That being said, this is still a slightly sweet drink but it is the perfect holiday cocktail.

First and foremost, you need to mull your apple cider. Pick up some mulling spices (I used these) and some apple cider (non-sparkling). Add your cider to a pot and add your mulling spices. Bring to a boil and then turn down and simmer for 10-15 minutes. Remove from heat and allow to cool. If you aren’t going to use all your cider at once, store it in an airtight bottle.

Once cooled you can make your cocktail. Fill a copper mule mug (or any old glass) with ice. Add your vodka, cider and ginger beer. Shake a dash of nutmeg and stir to combine. Add an apple slice and cinnamon stick for garnish, however they do add a nice taste to the cocktail as it sits and mulls a bit. Garnishing note: slice apple the opposite of how you would to eat it and you’ll get a festive star shape where the seeds are–remove seeds prior to serving.

And that’s it! You’ve got yourself a very Merry Moscow Mule perfect for enjoying fireside or whipping up a large batch for a festive party cocktail.
