I haven’t blogged anything in a while but I’m trying to buckle down and dive back in because I’ve got a lot of exciting things in the pipeline. I’ve been a little busy lately, I mean it is the summer after all. The one nice thing about this summer is that I’ve been outside quite a bit which has been great. In recent years I’ve gotten into the habit of being in the office all day, heading home and staying inside; my pasty white skin never really seeing the light of day. But this summer I’ve done a pretty good job of getting out and about. It helps that I work right on the beach in Huntington Beach so it’s easy to get out for a break to soak up some sunshine (and sip on a cold brew coffee). I’ve also gotten into the habit of getting outside for a bit once I get home. How can you not get out and savor a little bit of the day with the great weather we’re blessed with in Orange County? And the best part is that we’re only halfway through summer. I don’t know about you, but I’ve got the most exciting part of my summer coming up still. The wife and I are headed to Maui in September and I CANNOT wait. I’ve never felt like I needed a vacation so bad as I do now—it’s going to be so nice! If you guys have any recommendations on restaurants or things to do there, let me know! We’ve been a few times but we’re looking to get out and really explore the island this time.
One piece I know will be coming with me everywhere the rest of the summer is this leather backpack. It’s a beauty! I’ve wanted a small leather backpack for years now so this guy makes me smile. I use it for work every day because it’s got a laptop pocket built into it. And it’s still large enough to carry my planner, a book or two, and snacks for the day (never go anywhere without snacks). It’s sleek and minimalistic which I love and this midnight navy color goes with everything. In fact, it’s so great that my wife has already tried to steal it away from me. I’ll have to start locking it up somewhere soon so she doesn’t take it.
I took it with me on my recent road trip because I like to bring my laptop with me everywhere (just in case) and I also used it to lug around my camera. It was the perfect travel companion and I will be bringing this guy to Maui with me later in the summer. Another great summer wardrobe addition are these shades. I needed a new pair of sunglasses desperately and these fit the bill perfectly. They’re just the right amount of cool mixed with practicality. They’re invited to Maui too.
