Flannel in Flight

Last week my wife, mother, sister and I hopped on a plane and made the trek from sunny Southern California (where it was 86 degrees at 10AM mind you) out to Rhode Island where my dad works. It’s hard for me to pack for an east coast vacation when the kind of weather east coasters experience is just unheard of where I spend most of my time, but I will say that I packed effectively. I didn’t over pack (which tends to happen to me on any vacation) but I packed enough for the cooler weather out there this past weekend.

This outfit was the perfect combination for a 6 hour flight for three reasons. One, I’m wearing sweatpants which meant that I had no belt to take off going through security and I was guaranteed to be comfortable all flight long.

Two, I brought a flannel shirt for added warmth on the plane—nothing worse than shivering your entire way across country. And although I definitely didn’t need the warmth in LA (did I mention it was 86 on a November morning?) it was a welcome layer when we arrived in 40 degree Rhode Island.

When an airline is generous enough to give you one complimentary checked bag (thank you JetBlue) and it has to be under fifty pounds, suddenly these things matter. Needless to say, I was one content flier and was ready to enjoy a weekend of exploring New England. Check back for more outfits and style shenanigans from my weekend on the East Coast in the days to come!
