Never Fear, Fall is Here… Sort Of

Guys, I don’t mean to alarm you, but something’s going on. Fall is literally around the corner. Proceed to lose your mind. This year, more than any other, I’m very confused about how I feel about this transition. Normally I’m so ready for the heat to be gone and the cooler weather to move in. But I don’t know, is it just me or does it feel like summer only just began? Side note: because I live in Southern California where it’s hot until the end of October (at least) I’m not really panicking–summer is far from over for me. And by the time the weather actually does cool down, I’ll be a melted mess pissed that it was ever summer to begin with.

Regardless, the best part about the fall (and no it’s not pumpkin spice lattes) is getting to layer up. It’s also a time to reassess your closet and make sure you’ve got a quality denim jean in your wardrobe. Check this Traveler Jean out from Banana Republic. They’re thick and good-quality and are super soft. They are great for days when you’re sitting a lot (flash to me sitting at a desk all day) and the wash on these ones is super dark which I love. It’s the perfect base for any and all fall outfits.

This time of year can be difficult when getting dressed, but growing up in California means I’ve mastered the art of layering in a way that you won’t be drenched in sweat by the end of the day. Take this simple look for example. Jeans are a great base. Crewneck tee in fall-inspired color palette. Layering a work shirt over the tee gives the illusion of a heavier layer when in reality it’s pretty lightweight and doesn’t add too much warmth. I kept with the white high top sneakers because A) I love them and will wear them year round and; B) they give some laid-back summer vibes which is important when transitioning from summer to fall.
