The Death of the Skinny Jean?

Articles have been resurfacing lately claiming that the skinny jean trend is dying. And there’s some truth to it. Some.

A lot of the latest collections, both “high” fashion and otherwise, are starting to offer looser, straighter leg options. Fashions change and with it a new trend cycle begins–hope you held onto your old pants. So is loose and baggy is the new skin-tight? Not necessarily. However, the so-called “death of the skinny jean” is highly exaggerated. Plus, the old baggy denim you may have in storage isn’t exactly the trend. It’s still a tailored pant, just with a straighter, less painted-on leg. So regardless of how you feel about the shifting trend in bottoms, as far as I’m concerned, you can still wear your skinny jeans without getting any side eye.

To be honest, I’m still partial to a good old skinny jean. However, if my legs get any beefier I’m going to have to figure out an alternative. But that’s a different story. Skinny jeans are a great way for a guy to play with proportions in an outfit. This look is a good example. The skinny jeans creates a nice balance with the oversized nature of the shirt. The shirt or shirt jacket (haven’t figured it out yet), has large pocket details and looser arms. So to compliment it, a nice narrow leg balances out the look. So mull on that next time you put together an outfit.

Side note… I’m such a fan of high tops right now. I picked up these Converse All Stars a while back and love them. I recently wore them on an outdoor photoshoot work though and they got quite muddy–hoping I can clean them up and get them back to their original white glory. Anyone got any tips for cleaning white sneakers? I also picked up these Vans Sk8-Hi sneakers which I love. Anyone else a fan of high tops?
