This past weekend the wife and I piled ourselves into our car and headed a few hours north to spend a few days celebrating my birthday in Santa Barbara. We love Santa Barbara! We’ve been coming at least once a year ever since we were married and each time we stay at this cool boutique hotel called Hotel Milo. It’s this collection of old Spanish buildings that have all this character plus they’re right across from the beach. Every time we come we can’t help but snap some shots around the property because it’s just such a cool place. If you’re ever in the area go check it out. Anyways, we spent the weekend walking around and eating and drinking some great wine and it was the perfect weekend getaway. Plus, I even ran into Elliott from Apartment Bartender walking down State Street which was awesome. It was one of those moments when your Instalife and real life collide and it caught me totally off guard but it was so nice to finally meet him in real life. If you are need of some serious cocktail entertainment head over to his site and get your drink on.

I could go on and on detailing all that we did on our trip but that might be boring so I am just going to bullet out the things you need to do if you’re ever in the Santa Barbara area:

  • Go to lunch at Caffe Primo on State Street. The atmosphere is awesome and the food was delicious. I’ve been craving a great restaurant burger for months and had about 100 in that time trying to find the one I was craving. Turns out the one at Caffe Primo was it!
  • Go get a drink at The Landsby in Solvang. The hotel is a stunner! We sat in the bar and had a drink and ate some great food. Imagine getting to spend the day in your favorite boho mid-century Instagram account—that’s what it was like.
  • Head to Los Olivos and drink some wine. Cutest town there ever was and all you do is wander around and drink wine. It’s amazing. We particularly love Zinke and Saarloos + Sons. Their atmosphere is great for kicking back and sipping some vino. Oh, and get the cupcake flight at Saarloos. It’s almost better than any wine tasting you’ll do.
  • Get dinner at The Lark in Santa Barbara. Make sure you get a reservation because it gets packed but everything there is amazing. The menu can look a little intimidating but everything is amazing. Plus, the atmosphere is filled with string lights and wood so you can’t really go wrong there.

Now to my outfit. I was particularly excited about this outfit for a couple important reasons. For one, I’ve been dying for a good pair of Chelsea boots for a couple of years. Rockport delivered and these boots are amazing. I’ve already worn them a couple of times since the weekend—they’re my new go-to shoe. Love the brown suede because they’ll go with everything. Plus, in true Rockport fashion, they are beyond comfortable. Also, loving my new shearling collar trucker jacket. It fits great and it’s the perfect layer for the cooler weather we’ve been having here in California. I went from having one denim jacket to now having 5 and I’m not upset about it at all.
