Live, Learn, & Love Black

I feel like all the rain dancing I did in the fall and winter is finally kicking in here in Southern California… I mean I really need to work on my technique if I can’t even get it to rain in the same season (Note to self, Google “how to perfect the art of rain dancing”). It is once again gloomy and drizzling when only yesterday it was eighty degrees and sunny. But yes, the daily surprise keeps us alive out here I suppose. Alas, my arms continue to remain layered under long sleeves and denim jackets.

I can’t get over how much use I’ve gotten out of these black chinos. They have become a piece that I find myself reaching for all the time–even more so than my joggers as of late (sort of sad really because I love my joggers). It’s especially funny because up until a few years ago I hardly owned anything black, let alone wore something black on a consistent basis. But that’s what’s funny about personal style, it’s constantly evolving and growing. You have favorite pieces that you wear for years and then one day when you are cleaning out your closet you look at them and don’t even feel sad that you want to get rid of them. I’m not sure how that applies to an outfit like this that incorporates only classic pieces (i.e. denim jacket, black pants, grey oxfords, etc.) but it does apply to a worn out dress shirt that’s sitting in a DONATE bag that I’m writing this next to. So, see, it all connects.

Regardless, this is a great outfit and I’m only wishing I had worn my black wide-brimmed fedora with it to kick it up a notch. Oh well, live and learn right? 🙂 Gray and Denim 1Gray and Denim 5 Gray and Denim 4 Gray and Denim 3Gray and Denim 6 Gray and Denim 2
