Festive Elderflower Cocktail

Festive-Elderflower-Cocktail 1The fast approaching holiday season means tons of food, family, friends, and, of course, festive cocktails. Here is one that’s sure to be a crowd pleaser: A Festive Elderflower Cocktail. I highly recommend giving it a try, or at least picking up a bottle of St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur, which is derived from elderberry flowers. The liqueur has a fruity, floral flavor with notes of citrus and pear–it is absolutely delicious.

Tons of recipes call for adding the elderflower liqueur to a glass of dry white wine or champagne, but this festive cocktail is basically a take on a classic gin fizz. The best part about this cocktail is that you can customize it to your personal taste. Add some citrus like lime or lemon juice, or leave out the simple syrup for a more floral taste. Here it is:

2 0z. Gin or Vodka (I’ve tried both and they are equally delicious)
1 oz. St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur
0.5 oz. Simple Syrup (or less)
Tonic Water (Many recipes tell you to add Club Soda, but I prefer the bitterness of Tonic Water–try both out to see which you prefer)

Try it out! It’s a perfect addition to your Christmas cocktail list and is sure to get your whole crowd in a festive mood. Enjoy!
