HOW TO: Upgrade Your Image (for This is the Age of Immediacy)

Like it or not, we live in a world obsessed with image. And like it or not, we all play a role in creating this world. Furthermore, to some extent we all conceive notions based upon a summary of the facts. We all judge a book by its cover (whether we ultimately choose to read it based upon its cover is different). We all judge an individual by their appearance or what we deduce to be who they are (whether or not we ultimately stick with this preliminary deduction is different). If you think about it, our society (Damn, I told myself I would never use the word society on this site–oh well, a dollar in the society jar) are the biggest proponents of this idea. We, my friends, have created the age of immediacy. We have access to all of our information and all the information of everyone we’ve ever met at our fingertips every second of every day. How many people choose to only be updated on Facebook notifications or incoming emails once a day? No, we select to be updated as they come in, as soon as said individuals have hit post, send, pin or tweet. And would we really want it any other way? No.

So to this end, I say to you that our image, our self that we portray is very Shine-Bright-thumbimportant. Whether we like it or not, we are at the mercy of  the Instagram picture snapped by someone else’s eye, hashtags and all. Now instead of dwelling on negative aspects of this idea, I tend to think that this can be used to our advantage if we take this idea and work to cultivate an image to be proud of. Let’s shine bright together shall we?

So fear not my friendly followers. While I walk the fine line, I do not mean to stray to the arms of materialism. There will be no hard and fast rules. I merely mean to provide some small bits of advice on creating an image to be proud–tips to help take you, your personality and your style and inject it into all aspects of your life. So stay tuned and check back for more. In fact, why not hit the FOLLOW button? Just saying…
